I thought the Phases of Water Gizmo was easy… I was wrong

April 23, 2026 · Student Story

At first I thought this one was free marks.

Water freezes. Water boils. Easy, right?

Then the worksheet asked what's happening "at the molecular level".

Yeah… no idea.

If you're stuck here, same.

The confusing part is the graph.

You see the temperature go up… then suddenly flat… then up again.

That flat line is the whole thing.

Temperature stops rising because the energy is being used to break bonds — not heat it more.

That's called latent heat.

And it shows up on almost every question.

Same with heating curves: up → flat → up → flat → up

Two flat parts = phase changes.

Once I understood that, everything else made sense.

If it still feels fuzzy, don't just guess.

I found a full breakdown here: 👉 gizmosanswerkey.shop/gizmo/phases-of-water

Honestly cleared it up way faster than rereading the textbook.
